Brighton & Hove City Council, Customer Service Centre

Bartholomew House, Bartholomew Square, Brighton BN1 1JE, UK – 01273 290000

Nicest council CS waiting room I've ever waited in. (Of about 8 used regularly for over a year each)

Modern and spacious facilities, not exactly something to write home about. At least they try and make the experience of queuing up relatively pain free and simple. Could do with more reception staff.

Great service

Centre for Dentistry

Lewes Road, Inside Sainsbury's, Brighton BN2 3QA, UK – 01273 907002

Dr Sarah Murray is the best dentist I've ever had!! Going to the dentist isn't a pleasant experience usually but these guys are fantastic. Really put me at ease, explain everything well and you get exceptional service for not much more than you'd pay for an NHS dentist. Well worth the money!

going to the dentist is never a pleasant experience but this is pretty much as good as its going to get. great opening hours, friendly staff, thorough but efficient examination, clear and concise recommendations, calm dentist who explains what is happening and why at each stage of the process and to top it all, a tiny door in the waiting area for the Tooth Fairy; whats life without whimsy after all? This has been the best experience of dentistry i have had and i would recommend anyone to book here when you need to.

Norfolk Square Dental Practice, Brighton Dentist

Michelle is an excellent dentist, very professional, thoroughly recommend her. A happy, calm and satisfactory experience. Top dentistry skills and a well run practice.

The Montefiore Hospital

2 Montefiore Rd, Hove BN3 1RD, UK – 01273 828120

I had a total ankle replacement Nov 2015. From first meeting to discuss my options through the operation and on to yearly follow ups I found every member of the hospital friendly and yet very professional, they treated me with care and respect, and the food was excellent! My ankle replacement has been a fantastic success and i have now rejoined the gym, lost over 40lbs in weight, walk my dogs and have even been able to do some horse riding again! Its not an exaggeration to say it has transformed mine and my families life! I cannot thank Mr Redfern and his team enough and would not hesitate in recommending him and the hospital!

I was really impressed with this hospital and the staff, my procedure did not correct the problem however this was not guaranteed anyway. Nurses were lovely and the place is immaculate. Everything was explained in detail from beginning to end and I would go back for further treatment

Sussex Community NHS Trust

Elm Grove, Brighton BN2 3EW, UK – 01273 696011

Excellent service

Royal Sussex County Hospital

Barry Building, Eastern Rd, Brighton BN2 5BE, UK – 01273 696955

I don't often go to hospitals but I had the best experience here so far. The doctor who treated me is excellent. He explained everything clearly before and during the treatment as well. The nurses were supportive and friendly. Outstanding service!

After falling ill whilst out in fields cutting logs I had cause to be taken by Ambulance to A&E at Brighton Royal Sussex County Hospital. I have to give praise where it is due. We hear every day about the down side , the waiting and poor treatment. From my account, the speedy delivery of an excellent Ambulance staff and the immediate care that I was given in A&E . The Consultants ,the Doctors and Nursing staff and including the overnight nursing staff were no less than brilliant. I was informed of every procedure and every outcome. The night nurses I soon come to realise have patience to be admired coping with troublesome guests. Thank you , Thank you for treating me so well.Your skills are underestimated. Find Recycling Centres

Magpie Recycling

109 Lewes Rd, Brighton BN2 4AE, UK – 01273 677577

They have provided good quality items to our rental properties for some time - always really helpful and never been sold any rubbish !

A great shop where you can find all sorts of second hand bargains. They have a large selection of furniture and a lovely little clothes shop at the back.

Brighton recycling centre

185 Wilson Ave, Brighton BN2 5PD, UK – 0845 355 0550

You can recycle everything!! I mean everything!!! The staff were helpful in telling you where things had to be recycled. They don't help you put stuff in the bins but why should they?? You don't pay to recycle your waste.

Rubbish ;-)

Greenacre Recycling Ltd

205 Elm Grove, Brighton BN2 3EL, UK – 01273 600909

Great service, well priced, would use again.

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Very friendly family run business, and the food is freshly cooked every time.

Bombay Aloo

39 Ship St, Brighton BN1 1AB, UK – 01273 776038

This was just what I needed on a cold November afternoon. The restaurant is cozy and the owner was friendly. The food was good. Not the best curry I've had, for sure, but it was all very wholesome. Felt a lot like a home-cooked meal. Everything was hot, and nothing tastex stale. Onion Bhajees had lost their crunch somewhat, but still tasty. Great place for students looking for a quick and filling meal on a budget.

Cheap tasty veggie buffet. Know exactly what you're getting every time. Very good value

Thai Spice Restaurant

13 Boyce's St, Brighton BN1 1AN, UK – 01273 325195

Great tasting, authentic Thai and good value. Perfect mid-price night out place 😀

Nursery and Preschools

Robins Nursery School Ltd

Eaton Road, Hove BN3 3PB, UK – 01273 725600

What an amazing nursery! The enthusiastic, highly trained and motivated staff provide the best possible childcare available. The love, care and education is like home from Home and really quite exceptional! I could not have wished for a more dedicated, happy and nurturing environment. Truly outstanding!

My son (who is profoundly deaf and has severe learning difficulties) attended here for 2.5 years- From the beginning it was so welcoming and the staff were superb. I always felt that they went over and above to support him in his learning and worked closely with all the professionals. He loved it and he a pretty demanding customer! Couldn't rate this place any higher. xx

Young Friends Nursery

89 Holland Rd, Hove BN3 1JP, UK – 01273 735100

I've never seen any other nursery involving children in that many activities than Young Friends Nursery! My little one loves mornings when she knows she's going there, comes back with so much to talk about. Would recommend this nursery!

Orchard Day Nursery

Queen's Park Rd, Brighton BN2 0GL, UK – 01273 622883

If we would not have moved, our daughter would still be in this nursery! The most friendly and caring staff, special requests are taken into account, daily notes with info about your child... I hear a lot of complaints from mummy colleagues about their nurseries, that notes and pictures are unavailable, clothing not adjusted according to weather.... we never had issues like this from the excellent settling in time to the last day! Highly recommended!

In almost two years of taking my son here I've not had any one to one feedback on his progress, with each day's report sounding identical to the last. The nursery is happy to take your money, but the minute you need them to be flexible around a one off situation you'll find it near impossible to get them to help. Oh and if you intend on taking you child here I'd invest in a stop watch, as you'll get charged if you drop him in a minute before your agreed time. Does the fact you often pick him up early count for anything? No. Overall my son seems to enjoy it there - but how it gets on there, what he's good at and how he's developing I don't have a clue...

Primary and Secondary Schools

Queens Park Primary School

Park St, Brighton BN2 0BN, UK – 01273 686822

This is a very good school. My children did really well my youngest is still there and is really happy. They loved the friendships and learnt lots of interesting things. The residential trips are really worth it. I think it would be good if more parents helped do trips and clubs.

A very caring school.

Carden Primary School

County Oak Ave, Brighton BN1 8LU, UK – 01273 293677

I don't know, but my friend goes there and she has loved every second of it from reception all the way to Yr6. The teachers are genuinely the most kindest and and understanding teachers she has had the opportunity of getting taught by them.

My little boy started in reception this school year. At 4 years old he is reading, writing, and developing a love for learning. He is being taught social skills and has some amazing little friends at school. The teaching staff are dedicated, involved and committed. The headteacher has instilled across the school a fantastic set of values which is expressed in the teaching. The school also has a brilliant community feel - the PTA are very active and inclusive. Parents can be involved as much they want. There are regular events, fetes, activities, even camping trips. My son loves going to school and is thriving at Carden Primary. I would recommend any parent who are at the point of selecting a school to at least go to an open day and take a look.

Hove Park School and Sixth Form Centre

Nevill Rd, Hove BN3 7BN, UK – 01273 295000

I love it because my best friend go there

Public & Preparatory Schools

Windlesham School Brighton

190 Dyke Rd, Brighton BN1 5AA, UK – 01273 553645

Windlesham is a very positive and nurturing environment for children from nursery through to year six. My daughter started in nursery and my son is in year six. The teachers throughout the school show a genuine interest in each child's needs. Its a wonderful community of families too, with a village school feel in a busy city. A perfect preparation for life.

I've had children at Windlesham for over 13 years and they have enjoyed it immensely. They have made great friends and been very happy. The swimming pool has to be their favourite feature. One child has had plenty of help with his dyslexia and, through this assistance and preparation, he has made a happy and successful transition to senior school.
